Australian Open 2015

Another year, another amazing Australia Open for Little Tale’s Rory Brennan.

However, unlike previous years, Rory was presented with the opportunity of working directly with Tennis Australia. As part of the sponsorship team, Rory was tasked with generating content for Sponsorship Partners of the Australian Open. His specific focus was McDonalds who this year started sponsoring the Legends tennis competition, thus becoming ‘The Australian Open Big Mac Legends’.

This resulted in interviews, press events, presentation lunches and of course, Legends tennis games, all of which required content to be created. As Rory indicates,

This was a new experience for me. I have experience in both the worlds of sport and advertising, but bringing both together in a broadcast environment introduced many challenges and opportunities. Time is often a luxury that sport does not have but advertisers want, so we were required to edit quickly and maintain a strong sense of brand identity to avoid challenges later in the process.
Ultimately, what we created helped to rejuvenate the culture surrounding the Legends events, bringing these legendary players to a new audience. As far as I’m concerned, reintroducing the Woodies to a younger part of society is a civil service, not a job.
